Kids Pirate Party

After a few weeks of planning a pirate party I finally got to see the expression on my tiny little pirates. They were so excited and wanted to help set everything up on the day, of course cups kept falling and popcorn went missing. But I just couldn’t say no. I also had a challenge with my choice of foods, my youngest son is allergic to eggs and nuts. So I had to make sure most of everything he could consume. Soula from Beautiful Cakes made us the gorgeous pirate cake that was egg and nut free. Unfortunately she didn’t have an egg free recipe for the cookies but there was plenty of distration so he didn’t look too concerned. Both my boys love…. watermelon. So I found the idea on the internet and carved the watermelon into a pirate ship and scoped the inside into round balls resembling cannon balls.

We had 13 boys over all dressed in their pirate costumes. They all looked amazing. I have to say a big thanks to my cousin Nicky for coming over the night before and helping me plan the games and wrap the prices. We had a colouring in competition. I picked up some fab pirate shapes with sculls, parrots, swards and ships from a discount craft supplier and we had the boys colour them in. We played Pass the Parcel and Pin the Patch on the Pirate. We had a fishing competition with fish that attached to the hook with a magnet. We made sure every kid went home with a prize and a smile.

I customised our Little Pirate Birthday Invitation for a double trouble party, my son Peter turned 6 and William 3.

Bloom Together – Wedding Invitations can be deep and meaningful

“Bloom together” is very special to me. I designed this wedding stationery around the time of our wedding anniversary. My husband and I married pretty young and inspiration for it came around the fact that we had grown together over the years from young single people to a family unit with many shared experiences, some of the most significant the birth and parenting of our two beautiful boys and the different career paths that we have followed.

Every marriage has its struggles and I think we have overcome every obstacle with love and understanding. We have guided each other and have become each other’s mentor. Marriage is the knot that ties you together and I feel this wedding invitation and stationery set speaks romance and symbolises the transition from being just one to being two and the remarkable journey that follows onwards after that.

For the traditional bride – A great find

It is by keeping with traditions that brides choose to wear a garter on their wedding day. This is normally removed by the groom close to the end of the wedding night in front of all the guest and thrown into a group of single men. The single man who catches the garter gets to keep it as a lucky omen.

Every bride wants to be different and unique. So when I came across “The Garter Girl” I thought she had something very unique to offer. Julianne Smith founder of The Garter Girl creates unique garters, from modern to couture styles and can also custom design garters to tie into your wedding so you can keep to the tradition in style. They are so nice you would want to buy two, just so you can keep one for yourself.

Julianne will be on maternity and will be unable to take orders until after the 15th of October but I just couldn’t resist sharing this one with you now.

Something Blue

The Invitation Collection has got a new look! I am so pleased with the design of our site. I love the freshness of it, it has also really motivated me in to creating some new and exciting designs. I decided to use light blue in one of our latest designs and I have created an inspirational colour board to exploit it.

Meaning of light blue: Associated with health, healing, tranquility, understanding and softness.

The Invitation is the introduction to your wedding day and thus should reflect your own personal taste and style. The best way to go about deciding on a wedding invitation is to look at the overall picture and all the fine details that could influence your choice.

Here are some factors you could consider when choosing a style and colour scheme for your wedding invitations.

Colours and style of brides and bride’s maid dresses.

Grooms suit, tie or tux colours.

Type of flowers and their colours.

Colours of Cake and Decorations.

Dress and cake patterns and designs.

What will be the setting and destination? Beach Wedding, Church, garden wedding etc.

Formal or informal?

Season your wedding will take place.

There are such a variety of invitations these days that the above factors may act as inspiration and a great place to start to choose an invitation that doesn’t act alone, but ties in to your Wedding day. This is not to say that you can’t fall in love with a wedding invitation and choose everything else around it.

Classic Black & White

New black and white luxurious wedding invitations “Royal and Passion”. Royal is inspired by what we all should feel like on our wedding day, prince and princesses and Passion a unique designed invitation, glamourous and stylish embellished with vintage romantic black/grey ribbon and sparkling crystals on either side and coordinated with a lush black silk envelope including round diamond clustered button. Black and white is a grand colour scheme for a wedding event and can take on any other colour with elegance. Bridesmaids dresses, bouquets and other accessories in accent colours such us hot pinks, pale pinks and yellows look great with black and white. That’s not to say you need the accents, as simple black and white can be very classy.

Pink is the sweet side of red and denotes love, caring, tenderness and romantic intimacy.
